From famous persons of the pre-photographic time, there are usually only a few - mostly idealised - portraits. Through photography portraits became naturalistic and thus - supposedly - more real. However, a photographic portrait depicts the person in question only at a certain moment. With the development of mass media and the Internet, countless photos of famous people are available today. They show the person in different situations at different times. Now the question arises, which portrait depicts the respective person most clearly, since they each originate in a certain situation.
The portraits of the series Collective Memories are an attempt to give famous people a clearer face. For this 10-30 frontal recorded photos of each person are loaded from the Internet (determined by Google image search), scaled and digitally superimposed.
The Collective Memories series focuses on individuals who have had and have a significant impact on world affairs and society since World War II.
